The French-Language Bonus Points
Candidates who score CLB 7 or higher in French AND CLB 4 or lower in English receive 25 bonus points. Candidates who score CLB 7+ in French AND CLB 5+ in English receive 50 bonus points.
Which Exams Are Accepted?
IRCC accepts TEF Canada and TCF Canada for French language proof. Both must be taken at an authorised test centre. Results are valid for 2 years.
Maximising Your CRS Score
If your English is already strong (CLB 9+), adding French at CLB 7+ gives you 50 bonus points. For many candidates in the 460–480 CRS range, this is the fastest route to an ITA.
